What to do if my driver requests cash or payment out of app

Drivers are not allowed to ask for cash or any form of payment outside the app. All trips on Poparide must be paid through our online booking system. Keeping payments on the platform helps everyone stay safe, ensures accurate records, and supports a trustworthy ridesharing community.

Here’s what you can do if a driver asks for an out-of-app payment:

Don’t send any payment out of app

Kindly let the driver know that Poparide payments must be made through the platform. You’re not required to send extra money, e-transfer, cash, or any other form of off-platform payment.

If the driver continues to insist, you can cancel the booking in the app and look for another trip. We recommend choosing experienced drivers with solid reviews and a good rating to help ensure a smooth experience.

Please note that since off-platform payments aren’t supported, Poparide isn’t able to help recover or resolve any issues that arise from these exchanges.

Report the driver in the app

We take these reports seriously, as off-platform payments put both drivers and passengers at risk and violate our community guidelines.

You can report the driver directly in the app by following the steps outlined here: Reporting abuse, bad behaviour, or scams.

Our team will review the situation and take appropriate action.
