Poparide helps you fill empty seats in your vehicle on mid to long-distance trips to increase vehicle occupancy and share costs with passengers.
Posting a trip takes only a couple of minutes and lets you collect a payment from passengers going the same way.
Post your trip at least 3 days in advance so passengers have enough time to book.
Make sure you enter accurate details about your trip, including precise pickup and drop-off locations for passengers. Use the trip description field to provide any additional details on your trip and ensure you have enough space in your car for everyone to sit comfortably.
Stops allow you to pick up and drop-off passengers along the way to increase your chances of filling your seats and covering your costs. You can create up to 5 stops on a trip and allow passengers to place a booking request for any segment of your trip.
If you're driving regularly, you can create recurring trips and post up to 100 trips in a 6 month period. This feature is popular with commuters who are looking for a carpool option to travel to work.
We cap prices at 15 cents per kilometre to ensure fair pricing for passengers (read more). Before posting your trip, take a look at the trip list for your destination to compare pricing with other rides.
Posting a fair price per seat will help increase bookings on your trip and fill your seats faster.
Drivers with a clear profile photo fill their seats a lot faster. We highly recommend uploading a clear picture of your face to show passengers you’re a nice, reliable person to travel with.
Passengers appreciate having enough space in your vehicle. Make sure you post seats that are wide enough for adults to sit comfortably. Squeezing three people into the back seat is not recommended.
Ferries and tolls
The pricing for trips does not take into account ferry costs. We recommend asking passengers to pay their own fare at the ferry booth. You may also ask your passengers for a contribution towards the car ferry cost outside of the Poparide booking service.
You can factor in the cost of tolls in your pricing by setting the price per seat at the higher end of the pricing margin.
Please note you should have the ability to cover ferry and toll costs for your vehicle regardless of whether you have passengers or not.
