Poparide is focused on helping you fill empty seats in your vehicle on mid to long-distance trips to increase vehicle occupancy and share costs with passengers.
Posting a trip takes a couple of minutes and lets you collect a payment from passengers going the same way.
Post your trip at least 3 days in advance so passengers have enough time to book.
Trip details
Make sure to enter accurate details about your trip, including precise pickup and dropoff locations for passengers. Use the trip description field to provide any additional details on your trip and ensure you have enough space in your car for everyone to sit comfortably.
Stops
Stops allow you to pickup and dropoff passengers along the way to increase your chances of filling up your seats and covering your costs. You can create up to 5 stops on a trip, allowing passengers to place a Booking Request on any segment of your trip.
Recurring trips
If you're driving regularly, you can create recurring trips and post up to 100 trips in a period of 6 months. This feature is popular with commuters who are looking for a carpool option to get to work.
Pricing
Poparide recommends a 10 cents per km price per seat on trips (read more). We cap prices at 15 cents per km to ensure fair pricing for passengers. Before posting your trip, take a look at the trip list for your destination to see what other drivers are asking.
Posting a fair price per seat will increase bookings on your trip and fill your seats faster!
Profile photo
Drivers with a clear profile photo fill their seats a lot quicker. We highly recommend uploading a clear, fun picture of yourself. Show passengers you’re a nice, reliable person to travel with.
Space
Passengers appreciate having enough space to sit. Make sure you post seats that are wide enough for adults to sit comfortably. Squeezing three people into the back seat is not recommended (unless you have a limousine).
Ferries & tolls
The pricing for trips doesn't take into account ferry costs. We recommend asking passengers to pay for their own ferry fare at the ferry booth. You may ask for a contribution towards the car ferry cost to your passengers, outside of the Pop booking service.
For tolls, you can factor in the cost in your pricing by setting the price per seat at the higher margin (15 cents per km).
Please note you should be able to cover ferry and toll costs for your vehicle regardless of whether you have passengers or not.
