Your regular third-party liability insurance covers you for carpooling with Poparide.
This is because Poparide operates under carpooling regulations which allow drivers to fill empty seats in their cars to help cover their costs when they're already driving from A to B.
Do I need additional insurance?
Since carpooling is not considered as a commercial service under the law, there is no additional insurance required. We do however recommend that Poparide drivers have a minimum third-party liability coverage of $2 million.
To ensure drivers are not operating a commercial service and do not turn a profit, we set a maximum price per seat of 18¢ per kilometre. We also monitor our drivers' activity to ensure they are in fact carpooling.
Please note that we have some commercial services running on Poparide. These services have special authorizations issued from the local authority in charge of commercial vehicle regulations.
