At Poparide, safety is our top priority. Children and teenagers are welcome to travel, but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Minors are not permitted to travel alone on Poparide.
General guidelines
Seatbelt use: all passengers, including children, must be properly secured at all times.
Child safety seats and booster seats: US federal law and individual state laws require children to use appropriate car seats or booster seats based on their age, weight, and height. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation and use.
Front seat: it is generally recommended that children under 13 ride in the back seat for maximum protection.
Texas
Newborns to toddlers (up to age 2 or max rear-facing limit): rear-facing car seat. Keep children rear-facing until they outgrow the seat's limits, even if that is past age 2.
Toddlers to preschoolers (after outgrowing rear-facing limit): forward-facing car seat with harness, until they reach the seat's max weight or height.
Preschoolers to preteens (typically 4 and up, 40 lbs and up): belt-positioning booster seat, until the child is at least 4 feet 9 inches and between 8 and 12 years old.
Older children (age 8 to 12, 4 feet 9 inches and taller): adult seat belt, once the lap belt fits snugly across the thighs and the shoulder belt crosses mid-shoulder and chest.
The driver is legally responsible for ensuring all child passengers under 17 are properly restrained.

Be transparent: if you are booking a trip with a child, let the driver know in advance and confirm the vehicle can accommodate a car seat or booster if needed.
Drivers: confirm in advance if passengers are traveling with children and ensure your vehicle meets the requirements.
